10 Warning Signs of Mold Toxicity

Mold is the culprit behind many chronic illnesses and autoimmune conditions, however, people remain largely unaware of its effect on the body. Many people don’t believe mold could possibly be a problem for them because they don’t believe they live in a moldy environment. Could mold be behind your chronic illness? Today we discuss 10 warning signs of mold toxicity so you can spot them easily.

Mold and Chronic Illness

One common culprit for chronic illness is mold however I don’t encounter many clients that are familiar with this root cause. Many people think of heavy metals or pesticides or things of that nature but skip right over mold. Could mold be the root cause of your chronic illness? Can it be responsible for chronic illness and autoimmune conditions? YES!

When the body is exposed to mold, the immune system is suppressed. It creates chronic inflammation which makes for an environment where other pathogens and toxins can thrive.

Many people skip right over mold as a potential root cause, but before you do, you should know that an estimated 50% of buildings have moisture and mold problems. Just because you don’t see anything doesn’t mean it isn’t there.

So how does mold get inside the body? Mold produces something called mycotoxins. Mycotoxins are fungal fragments present in mold fragments and spores. They get into the body through air, food and skin exposure.

10 Warning Signs of Mold Toxicity
These 10 symptoms are common in those exposed to mold and mycotoxins. If you are suffering from any of these or a combination of these then you should consider if mold could be at the root of your health problems.

Did you know that mold can cause leaky gut? Once mold and mycotoxins are in the body they can overgrow in the intestinal tract. This leads to inflammation in the gut and causes the lining to become permeable when it isn’t supposed to be. This allows food particles that are not supposed to enter the bloodstream (via leaving the gut through the permeable lining) to travel in the bloodstream which then leads to food sensitivities.

Then, the process further continues to create an environment for a cytokine storm that disrupts the blood-brain barrier which then can lead to central nervous system damage.

Furthermore, in people suffering from chronic fatigue syndrome, a 2013 study found that 104 of 112 people with chronic fatigue syndrome were positive for at least one mycotoxin. It should also be noted that current OR past exposure to water-damaged buildings can contribute to this. So even if you aren’t living in a moldy environment now, it can still be in your body if you were exposed in the past.

Mold Inspection

How can you know if you are living in a moldy environment or not? There are some things you can look for to help you determine if there may be mold:

  • water spots on ceilings or walls (especially by sinks/showers/drains)
  • HVAC unit + ducts
  • front loading washing machines (the ring by the door)
  • check windows and doors for condensation
  • peeling wallpaper
  • warped walls
  • bubbling paint
  • bathroom vents
  • check plants (pots, soil) for mold
  • check your car for mold (seats/floorboards/around doors)
  • under carpets
  • behind refrigerator/freezers
  • behind tile and under sinks in bathroom
  • Even if you don’t see any mold it doesn’t mean it isn’t there. Most mold inspections will miss mold that is detrimental to our health. There is only one mold test for the home and car that we recommend and that is the ERMI test.

The ERMI test can be conducted yourself with a test kit they send you. You’ll then send the kit back and get the results.

We have found the ERMI to be the most accurate test. It has helped me find mold in many clients homes when they didn’t realize they had mold or when they knew they had mold but weren’t sure how bad it was. ERMI testing determines the presence of mold and mycotoxins from settled dust in the home. It is far more accurate than air testing in our experience. It will also identify the different species of mold in the home along with their concentrations.

In order to identify if mold is a problem within your body, we can do lab testing, bioresonance testing and muscle testing to determine if it may be an issue for you.

Once we identify that mold may be a challenge for you, we can help give suggestions for remediating the home and we can include addressing mold in your health plan. Identifying that mold is an issue is very important as mold can effect many other root cause problems such as parasites, lyme, and feeding pathogens.

How To Remediate Mold In Your Home
The first thing that needs to be done if it is determined that you are living in mold is to get the source of the mold fixed properly and remediated. Some important pieces in cleaning up are carpets, furniture, clothing and personal belongings. Mold spores are likely covering all of your belongings if you had a mold problem and will need to be addressed.

The easiest way to deal with a moldy environment is to move out of it. Even if you move out of that environment, your belongings need to be cleaned so you don’t bring the mold spores with you.

Once mold has been remediated and the source has been fixed (or you’ve decided to move), you’ll need to clean all of the clothing and bedding in the home.

You can get mold out of clothes by washing clothes with EC3 Laundry Additive. EC3 Laundry Additive rinses away bacteria and mold spores that get trapped in your clothing and other fabrics that regular washing alone doesn’t eliminate. Stop wearing mold on your clothes and carrying it with you right under your nose, wherever you go.

Add EC3 Laundry Additive to every rinse cycle or directly to the wash basin to rinse away mold spores, bacteria, and foul/musty odors from clothes, towels, and your washing machine.

Mold spores hang out in the air and you breathe them in where they can cause all sorts of health issues. The EC3 Air Purification Candle is a simple way to control mold spore levels in the indoor air.

Burn for 3 hours continuously on first use to achieve optimal effects. Burn for one hour each day afterwards for mold maintenance. You want to use one candle per room in your home.

You can also use an air purifier for mold. We suggest burning the candles in addition to running the air purifier. We recommend (and use ourselves) the Intellipure air purifier. It is designed to kill mold spores and truly purify the air to the highest degree.

For the rest of your home, walls, furniture, pet beds, carpet, shoes, etc, we recommend using EC3 Mold Spray to cleanse them. This product is safe for all materials and designed to treat mold and bacterial contamination on all of your hard and soft surfaces including, floors, walls, furnishings, clothes, shoes, car interiors, and even pets. The spray works on contact and thus, can only treat the areas where applied.

Healing Your Body After Mold Exposure
Once you have remediated the home and eliminated mold spores from your clothing, air and personal belongings, you now have the best conditions to heal the body from mold.

We have found in our experience working with clients who have mold exposure that they tend to be the most sensitive of all of our clients. It can be very beneficial to work with a practitioner to determine the best route to pull the mold from the body and work in the proper order so that you don’t have unwanted detoxing symptoms.

First we begin by opening drainage pathways in the body, ensuring that toxins can properly leave the body. We also focus on increasing cellular energy so the detox process can be executed without you feeling drained.

We utilize binders that grab on to mold and other toxic substances such as heavy metals, environmental toxins and chemicals, and escort them safely out of the body without dropping anything on the way. This ensures the mold isn’t just redistributed throughout the body, but is actually leaving the body safely.

Some products that are essential to healing from mold illness are (these can all be found in our shop – use password “elevatehealth” to access):

  • Biotoxin Binder – contains long-, medium-, and short-chain carbons which act in different ways depending on where they are in the body. It grabs on to mold, mycotoxins, ammonia, candida, fungal byproducts, heavy metals and more. Then it leaves behind building blocks for the cells to rebuild.
  • CT – Minerals – At the heart of CT-Minerals is the naturally occurring, highly refined, and naturally chelated extracts of Fulvic Acid. This means 100% organically complexed nano-sized molecules which can penetrate human tissue and blood cells easily. CT- Minerals serves many functions, one of which is increasing cellular energy.
  • Hydroxygen – Proper oxygen levels are a requirement for efficient cellular respiration.
  • Carboxy – Carboxy works systemically to promote full body detoxification, moving beyond the gut. This binder is so powerful that you may only use it if you are working with a pracitioner.
  • When we put together a mold protocol we do so with your specific needs in mind. No two protocols are the same for each client. Everyone gets an individual and custom protocol tailored to your body’s specific needs. Please work closely with a trained practitioner if you decide to use these powerful products. They are very effective and need to be used properly.

Other supportive detoxing practices you can include in your healing journey are:
